About Us
Pocket Pantry was created to help people reduce food waste and save money.
Every year in the UK, 7 million tonnes of household food and drink is thrown away with more than 50% still being edible. This costs the average household around £470 a year (£700 for a family with children), simply because either too much food is prepared or not used in time.
This is where Pocket Pantry comes in. Pocket Pantry is an innovative app created by students in order to tackle the costly issues of food waste. The app logs the expiration date of each food item and will send a notification warning you when that food item is about to expire. Pocket Pantry will also allow you to select specific ingredients, such as those about to expire, and generate a tasty, easy to follow recipe using the chosen ingredients as well as providing details on the quantities needed and the amount of people it serves.
